Iranian President and Foreign Minister Killed in Helicopter Crash in East Azerbaijan

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian died in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan province on Sunday. The helicopter crashed in the Dizmar forest, located between the cities of Varzaqan and Jolfa.

The delegation was returning from a ceremony marking the inauguration of a dam on the Aras River, attended by Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

The Iranian cabinet held an emergency session led by Vice President Mohammad Mokhber. The cabinet issued a statement extending condolences to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation. disruption.
