Several properties belonging to the Muslim community were looted and vandalized during a Hindutva group procession in Telangana on October 23. The communal mob out in protest for a temple in Zaheerabad of Sangareddy district attacked numerous shops with sticks amid fluttering saffron flags and hateful slogans.

As the crowd passed by the Muslim Majority area, the right-wing groups stopped near the restaurants and grocery stores. Some participants of the rally also threatened the owners, locals and residents.

Responding to the situation, Zaheerabad police arrested 4 hoodlums and “assured strict action”.

According to reports, the Hindutva mob included members of RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bhartiya Janta Party and other similar organisations who were protesting around Bhavani Mandir while chanting aggressive slogans. The crowd disrupted the preparation of the inauguration ceremony of the “Star Lite” hotel while pelting stones and throwing rods, while some goons stepped into a cycle shop and damaged the commodities.

“Today the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, RSS, and many Hindutva organisations declared shut-down in Zaheerabad. The market was almost closed already. They damaged around 7 to 8 shops and also played offensive songs in front of 1 or 2 mosques,” Amjudullah Khan, spokesperson of MBT, told India Today

Mounting Data Of Hate-Eruptions

Within a nick of time, the incidents of hate have considerably mounted in Sangareddy district which was previously known for its peaceful culture of coexistence.

The eruption in Zaheerabad is the 24th incident of communal hate within the past 10 months as per official records and locals also accused police of polarised action against Muslim residents. The attack came in a series of communal turmoil regarding the Sikandarabad temple, after many communal attacks on Muslims in several parts of the district. CM Sri A Revanth Reddy also seems to back the RSS Raft through silence.

“We want peace in the area, such hoodlums need strict action. I appeal to the police and administration to do the needful,” said a Muslim resident.

During the Ram-Mandir consecration in Ayodhya on January 22, several right-wing groups organised processions in the district Sangareddy without attaining any official permission and attacked and torched the properties of the Muslim community. A Muslim fruit vendor shop was also incinerated amid hooliganism.

Since then the communal flare-ups are mounting like never before.
